Canadian DIY musician Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, comes to KEXP to play a set of four songs off her immaculate début album Visions. Watching Boucher perform is like a whimsical psychedelic trance that grabs your full attention even if you’re not that interested. It’s weird, but also refreshing. Definitely a must watch.

New short film “A Strat is Born” takes you on a high-speed ride through the creation of a Fender Stratocaster guitar at Fender’s U.S. manufacturing facility in Corona, Calif., showing you every step from bare wood to onstage and set to a pulse-pounding soundtrack by Wayne Kramer.

There’s no doubt that the Shins are huge, and it’s even more of a no doubt that Record Store Day is the greatest thing to happen to the music industry since Apple opened its iTunes Music Store in 2001. Thankfully, both parties are teaming up together to create the biggest and possibly the greatest Record Store Day ever. Not only is Record Store Day premiering the Shins’ newest single “September” off the band’s latest release Port of Morrow, the online website has a complete list of participating stores as well as a comprehensive list of every special release on April 21.

Photographer and filmmaker Tom Lowe invites us into a crystal clear view of the world in which we live in with “Timescapes.” Filmed and edited at 4k (4096×2304) resolution – four times greater than regular 1080p HD – and shot on Red Epic and Canon Raw still cameras, Lowe’s “Timescapes” transcends us into timeless looks of the earth and the aesthetic beauty that Mother Nature provides. This here is the trailer, but be sure to pre-order the movie here.

Even though this idea was originally coined by the television series Modern Family and a few HP commercials from way back, I still enjoy watching a good video that deals with camera trickery and imagination.

KONY 2012 is a film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.

Joseph Kony’s rebel group LRA in Uganda kidnaps children at night, gives them guns, and forces them to kill their parents and multilate others so that he can keep his power. He now has over 30,000 and worse off, he’s been doing this for 20 years and no one has stopped him.

On April 20, at sundown, Invisible Children is organizing an event called “Cover the Night” where posters with Kony’s name will be put up all over the world, in order to bring awareness to Kony’s crimes. When everyone knows his name and what he has done, then justice will be demanded.
